The inaugural Al Ain Carreras de camellos Festival launched at Al Rawda Camel Racetrack with 605 races across age categories.

Under the visionary guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and with the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in collaboration with the Carreras de camellos Association, the inaugural Al Ain Carreras de camellos Festival was launched.

Set to run from Julio 4 to Octubre 9, 2025, the festival unfolds at the historic Al Rawda Camel Racetrack in the Al Ain region.

It features three preliminary rounds and culminates in a grand final in early Octubre, with 605 camel races across various age categories, including trophy competitions and generous prizes.

His Highness Sheikh Hazza emphasized that this festival forms part of ongoing efforts to preserve the UAE’s heritage, reinforce the significance of camel racing as a cultural legacy and solidify its place as a cornerstone of national identity.

The festival’s Closing Ceremony honored the champions of the season, culminating in the prestigious President’s Sword, claimed by the camels of the Presidential Stables in a remarkable display of speed and stamina.

The atmosphere was electrifying, with thousands of attendees witnessing the blend of tradition and modern sporting excellence.

The event highlighted the UAE’s commitment to preserving camel racing as a cornerstone of national identity while embracing innovation in race organization and media coverage. Jean-Marie Denoix Clase magistral: Advancing Equine Biomechanics & Rehabilitation

A three-día masterclass advanced equine biomechanics, diagnostic imaging and rehabilitation knowledge.

Day 1 — Dissection & Ultrasonographic Examination

The opening día welcomed participants into an intensive program led by Professor Jean-Marie Denoix, DVM, PhD, Director of CIRALE in Francia and one of the world’s foremost authorities in equine anatomy, biomechanics and lameness.

Professor Denoix emphasized the importance of combining anatomical knowledge with diagnostic imaging in equine sports medicine. The día focused on pelvic limb anatomy through detailed dissection of the distal limb, tarsus, crus and stifle muscles. Participants observed a live ultrasound demonstration covering the metatarsus flexor tendons, proximal suspensory ligament and stifle joints, then applied the lessons through hands-on wet lab practice.

Day 2 — Distal Limb Focus

The second día explored the biomechanics of the pelvic limb and pathologies commonly encountered in endurance horses. Through the BioRex methodology, cases of DDF and SDF tendinopathies, proximal suspensory ligament injuries and metatarsal bone fractures were presented and analyzed.

Afternoon sessions examined distal tarsus arthropathies, tibio-tarsal collateral desmopathies and plantar tarsal sheath tenosynovitis, combining scientific explanation with practical clinical applications.

Day 3 — Crus, Stifle & Femoral Muscles

The final día addressed complex conditions of the crus and stifle. Case studies covered SDFT luxations, gastrocnemius tendinopathies, peroneus tertius injuries and patella sub-fixation.

Afternoon sessions included medial femoro-tibial injuries and cruciate ligament desmopathies, before closing with diagnostic and rehabilitation approaches to femoral muscle injuries. The Clase magistral concluded with actionable insights to optimize healing and enhance equine performance.

The Forum opened with a dedicated día on Medicina deportiva equina, moderated by Dr. Ali Al-Suwaidi, UAE Equine Veterinary Specialist.

Sessions included presentations from Dr. Marta Alonso of España on conditioning horses for long-distance competitions and Dr. Pierre Dubois of Francia on advancements in injury prevention and recovery. Dr. Fatima Al-Nuaimi from UAE University spoke on nutrition and hydration strategies under desert climate conditions, while Dr. Ahmed Khan from the FEI Veterinary Committee reviewed updates on anti-doping and welfare regulations.

This opening día emphasized the UAE’s leadership in placing horse welfare at the heart of endurance racing.

11 Febrero 2025 — International Resistencia Rides Conference

Day 2 was devoted to the International Resistencia Rides Conference, chaired by Mr. John Robertson of the FEI Resistencia Committee. Sheikha Maryam Al-Qubaisi shared her perspective on rider preparation and strategy, while Mr. Luis Fernandez presented best practices in course design and logistics.

Dr. Sofia Martelli discussed veterinary supervision in multi-día rides, and Mr. Khalid Al-Mansoori showcased the role of technology in monitoring and timing systems.

The día reinforced the importance of international cooperation and knowledge sharing in raising standards for endurance racing worldwide.

12 Febrero 2025 — International & National Equestrian Sports Arbitration Conference

The Forum concluded with the Arbitration Conference, focusing on the legal and regulatory framework of equestrian sport. Moderated by Dr. Hassan Al-Hajeri, the session included Ms. Claire Dubois, Mr. Mohammed Al-Kaabi and Prof. Elena Rossi, who examined arbitration cases, national procedures, ethics and athlete rights.

The final discussions stressed the importance of transparency, clear governance and effective dispute resolution mechanisms to protect both equine and human athletes.

The 26th edition of H.H. The President of the UAE Resistencia Cup took place at EIEV in Al Wathba.

The 26th edition of HH The President of Emiratos Árabes Unidos Resistencia Cup took place on Sunday, Febrero 9, 2025, at the Emirates International Resistencia Village in Al Wathba.

This prestigious 160-kilometer race, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, attracted elite riders from the UAE, GCC and other countries.

The event was divided into six stages, covering distances of 40 km, 28 km, 28 km, 24 km, 20 km and 20 km.

Emirati riders have historically dominated this championship, securing all top positions over its 25-year history. Rider Sultan Ahmed Al Balushi has won the title three times, while Sharif Mohammed Abdullah, Saeed Al Muhairi and Khalifa Al Jahouri have each claimed it twice. Al Wathba Stables holds the record for the most wins, with ten titles.

The event attracted elite riders from various countries, including the Royal Resistencia Team from Baréin led by His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

Masa Adnan Tonbakji achieved a significant milestone by winning the 26th edition of the President’s Cup for Resistencia. Riding LCE SACHMO for Al Wathba Stables, she completed the 160-kilometer race in 6 hours, 9 minutes and 39 seconds.
